Yesterday I had a client cancel on me with about an hours notice.
That’s not that unusual and I understand that sometimes stuff comes up that is out of peoples control.
I was pondering what to do and posed the question on Twitter. Should I got for a bike ride, have a nap or read?
Then I thought to myself, what I’d most like to do is a client session.
That’s why I do this stuff, because I love it and it fits in with my values, not because it’s making me fabulously wealthy.
So I decided to offer the session up for grabs to anybody that could make use of my time and had something I may be able to help with.
I announced as such on Twitter and Facebook and waited to see what, if anything, would happen.
Even with 20 minutes notice I got a handful of people ask to take the session and I took the first one.
It was cool being in that position and it got me thinking afterward, why don’t I do it more often?
Occasionally a client canceling is a blessing if I’m behind on work, but by and large I’m usually on track and it’s more likely to be disappointing.
I’ll only announce these slots through Facebook, and Twitter as it would take to long to do it via my newsletter, and obviously I have no idea when they are likely to happen.
So if at some indeterminate time in the future you fancy an hour of my time for free and you think there’s something I can help you with, join me on Facebook* or follow me on Twitter and keep your eyes open!
Only a handful of provisos and they are:
- You must be able to speak via phone and not Skype as I may want to wonder around the house or sit outside
- If you are outside the US it must be a landline
- You cannot apply twice if I’ve already worked with you for free
Meditation Ebook Launches Next Week
By the way, speaking of my newsletter, my free ebook on meditation will be going out next week and there is probably going to be an accompanying free audio version.
For that though you have to sign up and give me your e-mail address. I’m greedy like that ;-)
* If you do so make sure you follow A Daring Adventure as I’m crap at monitoring and updating my personal Facebook page
