 I bet you think you’re open-minded. Well I’m sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings, but you’re not. You’re not even close. Amazingly enough, along with being good at lovemaking and driving, pretty much everybody thinks they’re open-minded. The fact that we’d never have any arguments let alone wars if only it were true seems to escape most people’s attention. How do I know that you in particular aren’t open-minded you may be  I rarely write political posts because as a life coach I don’t really think it’s my job to do so. I used to be very political in my youth, but I grew disillusioned with politicians who I saw as becoming increasingly hypocritical and self-serving. Since moving to the US my waning interest has been almost extinguished by the constant negative campaigning of candidates in every election I have witnessed from local issues through to I needed to get some office supplies and also some labels for shipping my book this morning and as there is a Staples very close to my gym I called in there. I’m not the greatest at making small decisions in fact I can ponder a restaurant menu to the point where people with me are chewing on mints and wondering what 15% of $135.46 is, so it wasn’t a flying visit.
On  I work for myself and I think like most people that do so, I work hard to keep my customers not just happy but delighted. No life coach can ever guarantee results anymore than a brain surgeon can promise a patient they will recover from an operation or a movie screen owner can be sure his customers will enjoy a new movie. There is a fine book by Jeffrey Gitomer called Customer Satisfaction is Fresh from my discovery that my long-term aim is to be able to help kids succeed by using some of the life coaching techniques that I now use with adults, I trotted off to get myself a suitable domain name for future use. I had a list of 10 names when I logged onto Network Solutions and one criterion that was to get a .com rather than a .org or .net. I use Network Anybody that reads my Blog or knows me well understands how passionate I am about customer service and looking after the people that effectively pay my bills, my clients. It’s not difficult to return phone calls, to turn up for meetings on time or simply do the best job that I can. It’s also no more than people deserve for me to tell them if I think that I may not be the best person to help I was looking to order some cd’s online the other day. I spent about half an hour looking and deciding what I wanted and finally made a decision. I started the order process and filled in all my details and then hit the next button. I was immediately returned to the previous screen. I had failed to check the box that said I had read the terms and conditions. My mistake I accept that, |
