It’s The Message That Matters

Finally, after some delays the advance copies of my book ‘Don’t Ask Stupid Questions - There Are No Stupid Questions’ arrived on Friday. I was hoping for 100 to cover pre-orders but got 20. The rest are somewhere between here and Minneapolis on a big truck meandering sedately towards me hauled no doubt by some big hairy trucker that would sooner gouge his own eyeballs out with a corkscrew than read some wussy self-development book written by a damn Limey. No matter though they should be here in the next 2 or 3 days and I’m sure that the wise people who have ordered copies will be patient and understanding.

I was excited when I opened that first box; there is something to be said for seeing your name on a book for the first time. I guess that is my ego taking over but I’m prepared to give the little fella chance to wallow in glory from time to time.

It didn’t last long though, within minutes I found a typo and then another. Within an hour I’d picked up 6 or 7 and I’d gone from exhilarated to miserable passing briefly through embarrassment and having a quick cup of coffee with annoyance en route.

I sat and looked at my books and bemoaned the fact that I’d not sprung for a professional editor. Then my wife said to me “Is the book about the grammar or is it about the message?”  This question shifted my attitude, after all I am a life coach not a professional writer and the book is to help people improve the quality of their lives not show them that run on sentences can cause death by a thousand embarrassments. She was right…..again.

I immediately felt better and even stopped worrying about what the media types I had to send copies to would think. I’m not saying I don’t care and I will certainly correct them for the 2nd print run but in my heart of hearts I know that the message is what matters most and that is the bit I am happy about.

Go on be a devil, buy a copy by clicking here. If you get it and don’t like it I do a 100% money back refund deal. I can’t say fairer than that, and the book could change your life for the better!
