Cost Versus Worth
By now you’re probably aware that the book I have co-authored, How To Be Rich and Happy, pre-launches this Tuesday 22nd. It’s available at a reduced rate for a 48 hour window to my blog readers and subscribers as well as Johns subscribers prior to going on general sale at $97 on October 5th.
The point of the pre-sale is to say thanks to people like yourself that have supported John and myself by reading our books and my blog, and to give you the opportunity to get the book first.
Even so, at $48 for the 48 hour window, I understand it’s still not exactly a giveaway.
Or maybe it is, depending on how you look at it?
When I sent the e-mail to my subscriber list this about the book launch I got the response below from Melly Hocking.
“Hey. I’m only asking you because I know your ego can handle it. I don’t often pay 40 plus bucks for an ebook. What makes yours worth it?”
Firstly, I was really pleased somebody asked me because it is a subject I’ve been wrestling with for a while now and it has allowed me to give it some serious thought and I’ll address it in a moment. (BTW, here is a link to a video that explains a bit more about the book and how it came to be if that tickles your fancy)
Before I get into that, let me just say this. I am VERY protective of the people that take the time to read my blog. I frequently get e-mails asking me to pitch products and in 24 out of 25 cases I say no. Unless I’m 100% convinced that it will benefit you, then I’m not interested and I don’t give a damn how much I stand to make.
I don’t run Adsense on the blog because I have no control over the ads that are listed. Half the ads I run in my sidebar are for free and I don’t make any commission and I have never asked for donations from my readers.
I find it incongruous that some people who are earning 6 figure salaries are asking their readers to donate money to them. I don’t earn close to a 6 figure income at the moment, unless you count the decimal places, but I still wont be asking you for donations. I’m not saying it’s wrong, it just doesn’t sit well with me.
So let me address what in my opinion makes it worth the money.
How To Be Rich and Happy has taken us 2 years to finish. A combined 20 years of research prior to that was undertaken. I personally have partaken in hundreds of hours of training, read hundred of books and logged thousands of client hours to get me to the position where I not only know this stuff works, but feel I have the experience and understanding to deliver it.
The point of this book is to render other self-development books obsolete. It’s way better than anything I have ever written on my own and if used properly can be genuinely life changing and a paradigm shifter.
We talk about the Rich and Happy formula and this may throw some people. As I explained to Ali Hale one of the people that has a review copy, this isn’t a 2 + 2 = 4 formula, it’s way more abstract than that.
What I mean is, the formula will shift depending on the individual. The reason being is we’re all different. If I treated every client the same way I would be a complete failure as a life coach, because what may work for one person may not work for another. This book takes that into account.
My average hourly rate works out at about $120 per hour. I couldn’t teach everything that’s in this book in 8 sessions, never mind 1! In fact, if I am going to be 100% honest, I’m still integrating some of Johns material.
When we decide how much we think something is worth we compare. We look for similar items and give it worth based on that. Although I have done that most of my life I now realize it’s a horrible way to do things and it’s one of the myths exploded in the book.
I have books that cost me $15 that I have had $1,000 worth of value out of and others at $50 and over that I have had zero return on my investment from. What is the point comparing one against and other, unless it is to say they are both books?
There are e-books out there that are free and others than cost $100’s. The issue isn’t the cost, it’s the worth, it’s the return on investment. Can it deliver?
If you get to the stage where you honestly believe you’re Rich and Happy, do you think the $48 or even $97 look like a poor investment? I doubt it.
So you may be thinking “How can I possibly know that upfront?” That’s a good question and one I can address easily. Amazon do not let you send books back because you don’t like them after you’ve read them, but we do.
If you buy the book and you think it is hype, then we’ll give your money back. The only thing I’d encourage you to do is put this stuff into practice, otherwise you’ll never really know. It’s no good just scanning How To Be Rich and Happy, you may as well not bother. It has to be learned and integrated.
The book is long by e-book standards at over 200 pages, but there is no filler. Every single page is designed to help you move toward a life that you can confidently describe as being a Rich and Happy one.
It takes all of the best material I use with clients (including the forms I have developed and use myself), material that I know works, and marries it up with the kind of information that allowed John to become independently wealthy by the time he hit his early thirties.
There is nothing held back, we won’t be marketing the seminars we have planned as an opportunity to pay us $10,000 and learn the extra, 5% that pushes you over the edge. The extra 5% is already in there!
So there you have it, it’s now your turn to decide, because from midnight on Monday 22nd September until midnight on Wednesday September 24th, you can get the book for only $48.
That’s 48 hours for 48 bucks.
At that point the book will be pulled for 2 weeks whilst we set up the full release and allow our affiliates to help market it and it will retail at $97.
I sincerely hope you will make the decision to buy the book and then use the information in it to get that Rich and Happy life I know you deserve. If you want to download the first 3 sections for free click here and then hit the download button on the right. You don’t need to leave any contact details the download will happen automatically.
By the way, here is the first ever real post I have published on the new site entitled, ‘Is This Happiness?’ in case you care to check it out.
IMPORTANT NOTE: As we are using the same account as I use to sell my books I am forced to stop selling ‘Don’t Ask Stupid Questions‘ through my site from Tuesday, at least for the next few months. It’ll still be available from Amazon in hardback and Kindle format, but the e-book will no longer be for sale. The cost to set up another account simply doesn’t make it worthwhile. So if you want a copy this may be your last chance.
Finally, please don’t retweet this post or mention it in social networking circles. I know it’s impossible to keep this completely between us, but we can do our best ;-)
