Change Your Thoughts - Change Your Life
I knew the other that as soon as I posted my list of the top 30 books that inspired me I would regret it. Shortly after I had finished my list, I started a new audio book by Wayne Dyer – Change Your Thoughts - Change Your Life, 8-CD set“
It immediately became apparent to me that it was probably his best offering yet, and that is some achievement let me tell you. How thoughtless of Dr Dyer to do such a thing, can he not turn out something that is banal and insipid for a change and at least allow me to grab my breath?
This book is his take on a 2,500-year-old Tao Te Ching (pronounced Dow Da Ching). I say take, because it isn’t a translation per se rather an interpretation. He explains to the reader/listener what he believed Lao-tzu was trying to say when he dictated the ‘Great Way’ rather than just giving a verbatim transcript.
It’s difficult for me to know what to say about the book other than it is simply awesome. I feel sure that Lao-tzu would scowl at such a description because not only does it break one of the books precepts of being oblivious to the good or bad opinions of others, but also I doubt they used the word awesome 2,500 years ago and he’d probably have no idea what I was talking about.
One of the main reasons why I love this book is that its profound wisdom cuts through religious boundaries. It doesn’t matter whether you are Christain, Buddhist, Hindu, Jew, Muslim or any other denomination you care to mention, this book will talk to you (in more ways than one of you get the audio version) and the message you will hear will not only make perfect sense, but change your life for the better, if you allow it to.
I’m not going to go into any of the specific 81 verses because I’d fail to do it justice, I’m just going to ask you to read it and let the Tao change your life.
By the way, if you buy this book don’t go thinking that you no longer need life coaching because you do! I’ve got rent to pay here people ;-)
