Pay It Forward W/ Life Coaching

Probably over three quarters of my life coaching clients book a 6 session package. An average client stays with me about 6.5 sessions, so as the 6 session package is the most cost effective, that’s what I encourage them to sign up for.

I much prefer to have clients pay upfront and it’s not really anything to do with filling up my doggy bank, although that is quite nice.

To be successful Life Coaching needs commitment from both the Life Coach and the coachee. Now I know I am committed (and many say I should be), but I can never be completely sure with a client. However, ponying up $600 is  a good indication. And secondly, I don’t get cancellations because clients are worried that they can’t afford their next session as it’ already paid for.

Obviously if my average client stays with me for about 6 sessions some will get finished earlier. Usually I offer them the option to ‘bank’ the spare session(s) and use as a catch up whenever they see fit.

If they’d prefer not to do that and apply thumb screws to me whilst thrashing me with a cat o’nine tails I’ll begrudgingly offer a refund.

A couple of weeks ago I was looking to see how many people I ‘owe’ sessions to that were more than a month or two old and was struck by a thought.

Why not offer the clients a third option and that would be to donate that session back? A guy was good enough to do this a couple of months ago and when I tweeted about it somebody immediately booked it.

At about the time I was pondering this I got an e-mail update from the lovely Joyce Lukaczer who herself had one session left. She leapt at the chance to do this and responded to my e-mail within minutes.

I then tweeted about it and the equally wonderful Declan Costello from Ireland e-mailed me to say he’d give up his final session that was hanging over from several months ago. Cool eh?

So here’s what I’m going to do.

I’m happy to throw a session in myself, so that means I’ll work with one client for half price. The person has to promise me there is no way in hell they could afford the normal cost. Needless to say, I’ll be pissed off if anybody tries to take advantage of this to save a few bucks.

I still realize that half price is not free, so if nobody takes me up on this offer I’ll wait until I get another session given back and post here that we’re at 1/3rd price and so on and so forth until we hit zero.

If nobody takes me up on it at zero I’ll then skulk off into a corner and lick my wounds and anything else that may need licking.

I have absolutely no idea how long it will be before somebody snaps my hand off, so it’s a roll of the dice if you wait or dive in hoping it will drop lower. If it’s not for you, but know somebody that would benefit from Life Coaching and is genuinely short of cash, please forward this post on.

THIS IS NOW CLOSED, I HAVE TAKEN A CLIENT ON  – THANKS A LOT!
