Life Coaching For Kids - Part 1

Posted on 7 July 2007

I often talk to my more open-minded clients about meditation and the benefits of it. I must admit I have become a bit of a convert the last year or so and like any convert have become a tad evangelical. I certainly don’t push it on people that show no interest but if somebody sees the benefit I do encourage them to take it up.

The main benefit for me is that it allows me to set myself up for the day in the right frame of mind as I always meditate as soon as I get up. It’s only 20 minutes or so and I don’t mind getting up a little earlier if that is what’s required.

This morning I have had my first Eureka! Moment.

I got up, put the coffee on and trotted off into a back bedroom that I use for my lunatic chanting as per normal. As usual I took a minute or two to get going because my mind is still elsewhere (maybe that is the purpose) thinking about what I want to get done through the day.

Some while ago I read the excellent Why Café by John P Strelecky (by the way, Johns new book Life Safari has just come out and I intend to review that shortly) and in it John talks about everybody’s PFE or purpose for existence. This dovetails nicely with what I was Blogging about the other day and how people are more likely to recover from illness and overcome horrific conditions in their life if they have a passionate purpose for existence.

So there I was chanting away to myself in a manner that would have people that have known me for years howling with laughter, when into my head from nowhere came my own PFE. I have no idea where it came from or how I am going to achieve it but it is a biggy and one that I now realize all my life coach training and work to date has had me preparing for.

What is it?

I’ll tell you next time.
