Life Coaching - What’s That All About Then?
Posted on 22 December 2007
Finally after some technical difficulties we got the second in the series of the life coaching podcasts finished and posted and they can be listened to here. The link no longer works on my home page but that should be rectified next week.
The technical difficulties came courtesy of Vonage and T-Mobile. I have Vonage for a landline and whereas it’s phenomenally cheap for me to call back to the UK, in fact it’s cheaper than cheap because it’s free, it does have its limitations. Namely that of the other person being able to hear a damn thing that you’re saying. Not an insignificant problem you might think but I like to look at it as more of a challenge. As the signal sets on its merry way across the Internet I am subjected to the vagaries of the traffic that it encounters and whether the little sucker decides to travel via Hong Kong, Milan, Pittsburgh and then Rangoon before degrading to such an extent that it feels happy to arrive at the other end knowing that it bears little resemblance to anything other than Steven Hawking on helium. But as I say it’s cheap and I do make a lot of calls ‘back home’. So occasionally I may have to make 2 or 3 calls before I have a good connection but at least I’m not staring at the clock watching the $’s build up and thinking I could have bought a new shirt for the cost of this call.
My cell phone is not much better. I did a lot of research when moving to the US before I decided on which mobile network to go for. It consisted mainly of walking into the T-Mobile shop asking them whether they had good coverage in Florida and believing them when they said “Yes!” That was good enough for me; I know sales people are the salt of the earth and would never twist the facts, no siree. In fact when I signed up I did indeed get a very strong connection in the store but unfortunately I don’t live in that store and they are refusing to let me move in. The service in my own home is somewhat less than delightful.
So when it came to recording the 2nd issue of the podcast we encountered a few issues. I’m not going to bore you with them but I will say that after several attempts with landlines, cell phones and cans on string we decided to go for the cans on string. Unfortunately neither of us had a 30-mile piece of string so we gave up on that option too.
I am happy to say though that we solved our problems and the sound quality on episode 2 is far better than the first one. The intro has a slight echo but other than that it’s fine. So if you want to know how I got into coaching, what life coaching is and what I do with clients, check it out. When we get the first series of 4 done we will post to ITunes too.
We do plan on doing a second series so if there is any aspect of life coaching, NLP, overcoming fears, career coaching etc that you would like to know about drop me a line.
