Life Coach Gives Free Advice Shocker!

Posted on 28 October 2007

I’m a kind life coach and I like to spread the emotional, mental, spiritual and physical wealth whenever I can so I wanted to talk about something that comes up with metronomic regularity when I am talking with clients.

There are 2 tools in my bag that never fail to help with reducing stress levels. Let me repeat that, they NEVER fail to reduce stress. Not only that, but pretty much every client knows that these two super tools work and very often they enjoy using them.

Wow, I hear you say (metaphorically speaking of course I can’t really hear you so don’t get too freaked, I’m not hidden in the closet) so what are these things that can help me reduce my stress and make me feel better?

Exercise and meditation.

Stop it! Just stop it! I saw you yawn and roll your eyes just then. This time I really am in there and if you don’t want me to come out of the closet (so to speak) pay attention and listen.

I have never had a client that took up meditation that felt it was a waste of time or that they didn’t get any benefit. Plenty think that BEFORE they do it but none have afterwards. A great many have difficulty starting the process because they can’t get past the stage where they think they are wasting their time because they aren’t doing anything specific, but when they get going on the whole they enjoy and benefit from it.

Pretty much the same goes for exercise. Everybody knows that a certain amount of exercise is beneficial but too many people think it’s boring, is something that they can do later or is only for young people. There are so many different forms of exercise that I am amazed that nobody can find one that fits them. If you don’t like going to the gym what about cycling? Or tennis? Or yoga? Or jogging? Or gardening? Or soccer? Or tai chi? Or skiing etc.

What is more amazing is that some people like exercise but still don’t do it because a bit like with meditation they think there is always something more important to do. What could be more important than keeping your body fit and healthy?

How useful are you to your boss when you are sick? How useful are you to your family in hospital and how useful are you to yourself dead?

Stop procrastinating; write down in your calendar when you plan to meditate or exercise and then stick to it.
